I’ve been using this method for a while and wrote about it in https://kartikprabhu.com/articles/inline-svg-icons However, I have been using role = “presentation” instead of aria-hidden = “true”. I am curious as to the difference between them, and if one of them is better. Also, you seem to have aria-hidden on the main SVG sprite. Does that serve any purpose if the full sprite file is never embedded in the HTML?
